Over 100 Turkeys Collected and Donated to the Enfield Food Shelf and
Five Corner Cupboard
In an effort to help ensure that families and individuals throughout Enfield enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal this year, Rich’s Oil, Gas, Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, located at 12 Moody Road, hosted their 2nd Annual Turkey Drive. The Turkey Drive, held this year on Halloween, resulted in over 100 turkeys donated to both organizations.
Community members who donated a turkey enjoyed lunch and met the Rich’s team. Children had the opportunity to paint pumpkins and receive Halloween treats.
Rich Tkacz, owner of Rich’s stated, “I am pleased members of my staff are so committed to giving back to the community. It was heartwarming to see the enthusiasm they had to make this event such a success.” Rich also commented on how grateful he is to have members of the community, customers, friends and family come out to support the Turkey Drive.

In an effort to help ensure that families and individuals throughout north central Connecticut have food on their tables this summer, Rich’s Oil, Gas, Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, during the month of July, hosted a month long food drive to benefit the Enfield Food Shelf and Five Corner Cupboard in East Windsor.
Rich’s staff delivered over 600 pounds of food, along with monetary donations totaling over $600, to these organizations. Rich’s Oil Answers, “Things You Need” Call for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
When Extreme Makeover: Home Edition announced they were building a home in the Connecticut River Valley, Rich’s Oil, Gas, Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning owner, Rich
Tkacz, enthusiastically became involved. Tkacz was on hand beginning with the Hand’s Across the Border Pep Rally on June 12 right through “Move That Bus” on June 28. Rich gathered family and staff members to join in the rally and he and his wife, Carolyn volunteered at the build site throughout the week. Late one evening oil was needed for construction equipment, Rich and employee Mark Wright, jumped in the oil truck and delivered to the site.
Daily, Rich and his staff would check the website to see how they can help. Patio furniture was on the “things we need” list. The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Design Team was contacted, and $1,000 in gift cards were hand delivered to the build site to be used for patio furniture.
Tkacz stated, “This has been a heartwarming experience from beginning to end watching the community come together to make this happen. All of us at Rich’s were happy to play a small part in the process of completing this beautiful new home for the Hill family.”
Rich and his staff are committed to giving back to the community. Currently they are conducting a month-long food drive. Their goal is to fill an entire service van with non-perishable food that Rich’s staff members will deliver to area food shelves. In exchange for community members’ generosity, those who donate to the drive are invited to enjoy a summer barbecue with the Rich’s staff on Saturday, August 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
If you would like more information about the Food Drive, please call Rich’s Oil, Gas, Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning at (860) 763-2015.
